About the Department The IV Room is a specialized unit within UVA Healths Inpatient Pharmacy, dedicated to sterile compounding in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art clean room. This environment supports high-acuity patient care across the hospitals 528-bed inpatient census. What We Do Pharmacy Technicians in the IV Room: - Perform sterile compounding of IV medications in compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards
- Prepare chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other critical infusions for both adult and pediatric patients
- Operate within a controlled clean room environment to ensure safety and accuracy
- Collaborate with pharmacists to meet urgent and routine patient needs

Minimum Qualifications - Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience
- Licensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.
Physical Demands Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. Onboarding Requirements Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. The starting base rate for this role is $19.49 hourly.
